Nicotine Ban was delayed!

On 26 June 2020, Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt has decided to delay the ban on the importation of nicotine-based e-cigarettes to 1 January 2020.

This means that you will be able to continue purchasing RELX products from www.relxaustralia.com until the end of this year, and use it to reduce or eventually end the smoking habit.

The Minister has received a storm of objections and protests from individuals and some members of his backbench after he announced to prohibit the importation of e-cigarettes containing nicotine from 1 July 2020.

Under this regulation, people will no longer be able to legally import nicotine based vaping products for personal use via an overseas supplier unless on prescription from a doctor.

Nationals George Christensen - LNP Member for Dawson and Matt Canavan - LNP Senator for Queensland had campaigned against the ban on social media and had set up a petition site - in protest again the ban and the petition has received more than 70,000 signatures.

"The banning of liquid nicotine imports on 1st July could turn people back to cigarettes or to potentially harmful alternatives on the black market."he said on Facebook.

“Vaping is a safer alternative to smoking,” he said. “We should be making it easier for smokers to quit, not harder.

"So I will keep fighting for that and hopefully you can all help with that too."Mr Canavan said in the post.

We welcome the Government delaying the ban. This sends a positive signal to RELX customers like you, who have sought a better alternative and use vaping with nicotine as a means to ending cigarette smoking.

At RELX, we will continue developing products to help adult smokers to make the easy switch from smoking, please stay tuned for more exciting news from us soon.
